PREI (Project
for Integration)
Background:
PREI was started thirteen years ago
by six women who received unfair treatment. Four of these women
were abused and harassed by their men/boy-friends. The women
wanted a place to socialize and talk about their troubles. The
goal was not to create PREI center as it is today. These six
women could not afford to rent premises so they had to borrow
it from different organizations and churches to arrange meetings
and sewing clothes.
The women started to name their meetings
and activities. They thought it was crucial to perceive knowledge
about the society. It was important to know about their rights
to defend themselves from violence and oppression. All this
was in actual “Integration” and thus the organization got the
name “PREI – Project for integration”.
Since then wonders have happened and
PREI grew each week and became important. To date the project
has reached thousands of people. Nowadays PREI also works on
a national and an international level. The six women who started
PREI never thought about the present-day PREI, since beginning,
their goal was always to solve their problems and to be able
to raise their children. It was truly a miracle that happened
with PREI in-that the project came this far!
PREI is religiously and politically neutral, but
does work with all interested people striving for the same goal.

integration in society
